Working with Lisa has led to continued personal growth and fulfillment for me. I was truly lost in stress and overwhelmed by life. My story was not so different than for most people. Life threw me some curve balls that piled up on top of an already crowded plate of responsibilities. My confidence in making meaningful decisions reached an all time low. When asked what I wanted to happen and how I felt, I honestly could not come up with a response.
Lisa has a gift of being able to listen with you as you share feelings and beliefs. She brought a new awareness and clarity to how I was feeling and what was really important on my journey. She was able to help me envision what I really wanted out of life, and not just go back to what was familiar and expected of me. By shining a light on my strengths, I was able to build my confidence in the trail I wished to blaze.
Having someone offer up a different perspective, while highlighting my limiting beliefs and fears was eye opening. Learning that I had a right to my feelings helped me open up to new possibilities. Lisa worked with me in creating action plans to meet my goals. I appreciated that Lisa stood with me, on a very difficult journey. Life is so much better now than it was a year ago, my future so much brighter. Lisa played a decisive role in helping to make that happen.
Reliable, compassionate and patient. Did I mention patient? When I first started working with Lisa, I was tired, frustrated and at a crossroads with my health and well-being. I was commuting via a ferry from my new home in Bremerton to my job in Mill Creek as a sixth-grade teacher. I had recently moved to a new city, away from my long-developed support groups. I felt alone. My stress level was high, and I was tired of coming up against my own ideas that weren’t helping me get better. I went to Lisa for massage for several years and I knew her capacity for understanding health and wellness. I also knew her ability to be professional and reliable. When she offered to be my health coach, I excitedly agreed, knowing I was in good care.
My personal experience includes recovery from addiction of all kinds. Lisa knew this and met me where I was at. Our first discussions didn’t involve her telling me what I should do, she took the time to discover what I wanted to see for myself and opened possibilities of things I had never thought of.
Over the next three months, we explored my relationship with food, my relationship with myself and my relationship to others. She coached me through my fear of eating, my fatigue and she encouraged me to discover foods that give me energy and helped me be aware of foods that take my energy away. She gave me mindfulness tools to use when I eat and directed me toward anchors that can help re-direct my thought patterns. Just a few things I discovered were that I like to cuddle with our chickens and essential oils help ground me.
During the time we worked together, she supported me in my search for a naturopath and listened as I navigated my way through hormonal fluctuations and adrenal overload. Lisa would suggest tools I could use for the week between sessions, and she never guilted me for not using all of them. She just supported me each step of the way. At the end of the 90 days, I felt Lisa had given me a good start to see my relationship with food and my body in a more compassionate way. She was exactly the coach I needed. Although it has been some time since my work with Lisa, I still use many tools she shared with me. I take my time eating, thinking about each bite, I do my best to check-in with myself with when I am full, hungry or satiated, and I let these check-ins guide what I eat, when I eat and why I want to eat. I have appreciated the support she gave me through an unfamiliar time. Lisa was just what I needed last Winter! I encourage anyone to work with Lisa in any capacity and I am grateful for the tools I developed and the things I learned about myself.
